C6 to C7
Had all three - C5, C6 and C7
C6 to C7 - feels more like they are totally different cars than C5 to C6
In gear performance in the C7 is way better than the C6 - most of this feels like its down to the 8 speed box.
Handling is far superior - still a bit wooden but much more feel than the C6
Engine note is somewhere between the C5 and the C6 - V8 sound of the C5 but with a slightly harder edge of the C6
I use sport mode a lot more in the C7, it seems more useful than it was in the C6 and it certainly makes a difference to the engine note and you get
the lovely overrun burble if you've specked the sport exhaust (which I think is a must have)
Better fuel economy - but not by much - most noticeable in town though where I'm about 40% better (but do we really care about the greens?)
My partner has driven all three and she certainly prefers the C7 to drive

liikluses uimerdamine siis on sellised kiired auto seadistus valikud igati teretulnud nähtus - mida sa seal ummikus ikka uimerdad oma 500 jõuga,
lülitad pigem 250 peale.
Masin siis lülitab vaiksel kulgemisel pool mootorit välja ja jääb V4-na tööle. Aga mis peamine, et sport reziimi saad sajandik sekundiga aktiveerida,
kui peaks mõni ärev moment tekkima (käigukandi tõmmates lihtsalt alla).
Tegelikult on uuemad püssid juba paljud vajadusel oma jõu kohta ikka üllatavalt ökonoomsed. Kasvõi Lexus ISF millel on suur vabalthingav V8 võtab tänu oma käigukastile vähe kütust, nii linnas kui maanteel. Ja kõikide nende uute Audi suurte mootorite kulu ei ole üldse suur, kui tead milleks see auto vajadusel võimeline on. Uue biturbo kolmese diisli kütusekulu ja kiirenduse suhe on Audil ikka päris hea juba.

What to spec?
During our day with the Audi RS6 we also had a look at the various options and packages available for the RS6 and here are some optional extras you
should definitely consider to add to your RS6 order:
Dynamic Package: Includes the Sport Differential, RS Sport Suspension (leave it in Auto) and increased top speed of 280 km/h. If you live in Germany
or drive extra sporty consider the Dynamic Plus Package which includes a further increase of the limiter to 305 km/h and the Ceramic brakes. It comes
at a hefty price though and it is doubtful if the brakes and increased top speed are worth the extra 8,000 euro.
RS Sport Exhaust: The must-have for the great RS6 tune.
Seat cooling, our favorite feature to cool us down on hot summer days.
Assistance & Safety Package, includes Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function among other safety systems. The RS6 and
RS7 both allow the adaptive cruise control to be set up to speeds of 250km/h, compared to 180-200 km/h for many competing systems. Both systems make
long journeys much more comfortable and safer.
How does it compare to the Audi S6?
Despite its character as an excellent and fast grand tourer we missed a great sense of sportiness in the S6. The RS6 definitely adds a great deal of
sportiness over the S6 with its powerful engine, tremendous performance, the must-have sport exhaust, increased top speed and optional sport
suspension.
A major difference is the gearbox, where the S6 comes with Audi’s own 7-speed double clutch gearbox, the RS6 has a ZF 8-Speed with a single clutch.
Audi claims the 8-speed is a better fit for the RS6, but increasing desire to keep fuel economy as low as possible also plays a role. The 8th gear in
the RS6 works as an overdrive and reduces average fuel economy to nearly the same level as the 140hp weaker S6.
Some issues of the S6 still exist in the RS6; steering feels quite indirect and artificial, while the handling is not as dynamic as one would like.
However the RS6 packs a whole lot more punch and we would opt for the more aggressive RS6 at a heartbeat.
How does it compare to the previous generation Audi RS6?
Its lighter, faster, bigger, better..! But we will miss the monster 5.0 liter V10 from the C6 RS6. The turbocharged V8 in the new generation is a
great engine but lacks a bit of emotion and sound the V10 had.
What about the competition?
In the segment of the Audi RS6 we also find the BMW M5 Touring and Mercedes E63 AMG Estate. The Audi RS6 sets the bar higher in this segment with
incredible acceleration and great usability. However is it driving fun beyond just straight line acceleration you are after the Mercedes and BMW offer
a more dynamic experience with their rear wheel drive setups. In all-round performance and usability the before-mentioned BMW M550d xDrive is also an
interesting and cheaper alternative to the RS6.

How does it sound?
That, to a certain extent, is up to you. Just to expand for a moment, Litchfield offers three stages of RS6 conversion. The first is a simple engine
management tweak that costs £600 and liberates an extra 100bhp. That looks ferociously good value.
Step up to Stage 2 and £2,637 buys you a new Milltek exhaust and 730bhp, or for £4,939 you can have this stage three kit with an even freer-breathing
Milltek exhaust and 750bhp. Now, I suspect the pound signs have distracted you, but ignore the money for a second, because you can spend more by
further upgrading the exhaust.
Ours had the top-end Akrapovic system which was more amplifier than gas discharge pipe. Put it this way – it makes a Jaguar F-Type sound positively
declawed. Each gearchange is a thunderclap, each lift an artillery barrage. It’s comical. And silenceable (if that’s even a word) via the settings
menu. There’s a short video in the gallery. That’ll show you what I mean.
Sounds mighty…
It does, and best of all, when you back right off you’ll find there’s nothing demanding or intimidating about pootling around in it. It has the same
soft, composed throttle response at low speeds and mooches about town very effortlessly, but unleashing hell? That’s just a twitch away.
If anything the power delivery is even sharper and less laggy, and the way the thrust builds and builds as the needle spins higher and higher is
dizzying. It’s a very, very well integrated set-up.
You’re back talking about power again…
Of course I am. It’s the sheer unfathomable thrust of this RS6 that’s so bewildering. It’s one of those cars that no matter what else you drive – fast
sports bike, F1 car – you’d get back in and be struck once again by how fast this family wagon is.
And £4,939? Well that’s less than Audi charges for the optional B&O sound system – and what matters more, watts or bhp? Sorry, rhetorical
question.

Not all tuning companies are equal. While plenty make great modifications and tease out impressive power figures, and many take over manufacturer
warranties, very few have such a close relationship with the original manufacturer that they get access to a car before its release and can offer an
upgrade as soon as it goes on sale. One such tuner is Abt Sportsline.
The Bavarian company can trace its history all the way back to 1896, when blacksmith Johann Abt fitted a device to a horse-drawn carriage that allowed
it to be converted into a sledge when it snowed. Later it became an agent for Horch and then Audi, but it wasn’t until the late ’60s, when another
Johann Abt, grandson of the founder, started racing and offering upgraded parts, that Abt turned from a dealership to a tuning firm, too. It made its
reputation increasing the performance of Golfs and Audi 80s by enlarging engine capacities, adding better-flowing exhausts and upgrading the
suspension. And,
right to this day, the core of its work has remained VW Group products. Which brings us to this, Abt’s take on the Audi RS6
Performance.
Engine, transmission and 0-60 time
Even though the RS6’s big, 4-litre twin-turbo V8-powered estate was always going to be a niche offering,
it was crying out for someone to
liberate it from its OEM shackles. Not that the standard car is underpowered – with 597bhp and 553lb ft of torque, it certainly isn’t – but its top
speed is limited to a measly 155mph or, optionally, 174mph. Once Abt has finished with it, however, that increases to 200mph – a much more appropriate
V-max and no longer sitting at the same speed as every hot hatch or mid-range saloon on the autobahn.
Rather than just removing the limiter to get the Avant to hit the double ton, Abt has increased the engine’s power to 725bhp and torque to a
massive 678lb ft. This helps reduce the 0-62mph time from 3.7sec down to 3.4sec. It might be one of the more sophisticated tuners but, like
all the others, it knows how to dazzle with impressive numbers!
Technical highlights?
These monster outputs are achieved
by adding Abt’s own separate ECU, a high-pressure fuel pump and a bespoke Akrapovic titanium
exhaust system with
a pre-muffler replacement pipe. The car we drove was also equipped with a set of Abt 21-inch diamond-cut
wheels. Sadly they were fitted with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D tyres that limit top speed to 170mph (275kph).
What’s it like to drive?
The tyre’s top speed is incredibly frustrating when you know the car’s full capabilities; even more so when you discover just how easy it is to reach
170mph on a derestricted autobahn. 
Find only a short gap in traffic and you shoot from UK cruising speeds, past where the regular limiter
would be and on to the tyre’s top speed in a matter of seconds.
The RS6’s refined interior rather muffles the new exhaust. And the extra power isn’t easily detectable at lower speeds and on B-roads – not a surprise
when the standard car is so fast – but it does make it feel lighter; the car responding more eagerly when you touch the throttle.
Abt’s upgrades probably don’t make much sense if you don’t have frequent access to derestricted autobahns or take part in top speed events on old

Price and rivals
The total cost of Abt’s upgrades for the RS6 Performance is 20,000 euros plus taxes. But, although that makes it very expensive (it takes the price of
the whole car to over £100,000) it [roppus] in very rare category, a 200mph estate car.
Brabus offers an upgrade to the current C63 S Estate that takes power up to 641bhp and its top speed to 198mph, so very close. The Mercedes tuner
hasn’t completed its full package for the bigger E63 yet, but it’s likely to increase the big estate’s top speed soon.
Only Alpina’s B5 Bi-Turbo Touring can match Abt’s RS6 Power R's 200mph top speed. Based on the BMW M550i, so it has a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, an
eight-speed automatic transmission and, like the RS6, four-wheel drive. Even though the B5 has the same 200mph top speed as the Abt, it’s down on
power by comparison, the Alpina has 600bhp and 589lb ft of torque. Then again, it’s not as expensive at £91,000.

ABT meestel hakkas taaskord igav ja valmis ehitati RS6-E. Aparatuur on hübriidajamiga prototüüp, mis kannab koondnimetust E1000. Masina bensiiniajam
pakub 735 hobujõudu ja 920Nm väänet. Alates 100km/h on täiendavalt kasutatav lisana ka elektriajam, mis lisab 300hj ja 370Nm väänet. Kokku siis kena
kombinatsioon 1000+hj/~1300Nm.
